Sedately nestled within native scrublands, Quinns Rocks Primary school is a school with a well founded sense of community and family. Established in 1980 with two classrooms, the school has grown to nineteen classrooms and is the oldest with a rapidly growing housing development hinterland. The enrolment intake area comprises the ‘Old Quinns’ bordered by Merriwa to the east, Quinns Beach and Butler to the north and Mindarie to the south. ‘Old Quinns’ provides a diverse population range and is characterised by a low transient rate.
Staff are welcoming, personable professionals, who in the majority of cases, are experienced and long serving in the school and the local community. Quinns Rocks Primary school is committed to providing a holistic, inclusive and relevant education for each child; an education that will provide a strong foundation for future learning in a rapidly changing and diverse society.
Quinns Rocks PS became an Independent Public School in 2015.
School programmes are underpinned by a set of values common to the school and local community. Focus on developmental learning in the key learning areas of Literacy and Numeracy is strengthened by a collaborative approach by staff across all phases of learning. Specialist areas include Art, Science, Sustainabilty and Physical Education / Health. For the last three years the school has presented a musical drama in our specialist Performing Arts Area. Our active physical education program complements the community based sporting groups and encourages participation through a range of intraschool and interschool activities. For a minnow among the other schools, we fight well above our weight.
A pastoral care programme is highlighted by well established processes in student management with a consistency in both understanding and application. The programme is complemented with active School Volunteers, a dedicated School Chaplain and access to all government agency services. Students are offered a variety of leadership opportunities through the student council, faction leaders, peer mediation training, sustainability responsibilities and in technical support.
The school-community partnership has been well established over the thirty five of its history and continues to provide a strong connectivity and ownership in the school. Ongoing regular parent participation at a student interface level, complement the learning opportunities provided.
Our school motto, 'Working and Sharing Together', characterises the basis for this wonderful school’s continued success.
